Who can open an account

The bank’s general agreements cover resident and non-resident individuals and legal entities, and its fee schedule has separate terms for non-resident individuals: different fees apply to non-residents registered since 7 March 2022.

Terms for accounts of companies registered abroad are not stated separately on the website.

How to open an account

For foreigners, the main way to open an account is at a branch: the bank has branches and service centers in Tbilisi, Batumi, Kutaisi and Rustavi, and its central branch is at 74 Kostava St., Tbilisi.

Under the general agreement, remote registration and account opening with electronic identification are available only to residents. Existing internet banking users can also open an additional account through an electronic application.

Documents you will need

The document list is not published on the bank’s website. Under the general agreement, you submit the documents required by the competent Georgian authorities and the bank’s internal rules. Before your visit, call the hotline, which is available 24/7.

Fees and charges

According to the bank’s fees page, opening an account costs 50 GEL for a non-resident individual, and monthly maintenance is free. For non-residents, the fee for withdrawing cash from an account at the bank’s cash desk is 2% (minimum 15 USD). Opening and maintaining an account is free for companies.

The fees page does not show an effective date, so check the price before your visit.

Things to keep in mind

Much of the information online refers to Halyk Bank in Kazakhstan rather than the bank operating in Georgia, so check the terms only on halykbank.ge. The bank’s website is available in Georgian, English and Russian.
